  • The Transnational Corporations China Forum 2006—Summit on Chinese Corporations, Corporate Responsibility, Soft Competitiveness” is held in Beijing on Feb. 16, 2006. This summit, which is sponsored by Pfizer, is organized by Chinese Academy of International Trade & Economic Cooperation of MOFCOM, and co-hosted by Global Compact - United Nations Secretary General’s Office.

    Mr. Jeffrey B. Kindler, Vice Chairman of Pfizer Inc, makes a special trip from the United States to participate this summit meeting and is the first speaker from the enterprises to deliver the speech. Mr. E. Allan Gabor, Vice President of Asia region, Pfizer Global Pharmaceuticals; Ms. Nancy Nielsen, Senior Director of Corporate Citizenship, Pfizer Inc; Mr. Christopher Costigan, Director of Corporate Affairs-Asia, Pfizer Global Pharmaceuticals and Ms. Danlong Feng, Corporate Affairs Director of Pfizer China also attend this meeting.

    Mr. Kindler’s speech, titled “Pfizer’s Global Corporate Citizenship Approach: Towards a Healthy Society and Enterprise”, spiffily introduced Pfizer’s opinion on social responsibility as well as corporate citizenship, combined with Pfizer’s approaches in field.

    The audiences applauded to this speech. The moderator, Mr. Chai Haitao, President of Chinese Academy of International Trade & Economic Cooperation of MOFCOM, said, Pfizer’s approach is one of the best practices of the corporate commitment to social responsibility.

    The implementation of social responsibility of enterprises has been broadly recognized recently. The newly amended "Company Law" marks out that enterprise should “commit to its social responsibility”. The Transnational Corporations China Forum on Corporate Responsibility is one of the most authoritative forums in this field. More than 400 representatives from the government agencies, related organizations as well as enterprises, local and global, attended this forum. The forum is also been broadly covered by most of main steam medias including www.people.com.cn.
