China Red Cross Society Presented Earthquake Relief "Special Support Award" to Pfizer China

On July 29,the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) Recognition and Awards Ceremony was held in Beijing. In this ceremony, RCSC presented awards in several categories including Best Organization, Advanced Group, Advanced Individual, Outstanding Volunteer, Special Support, Special Contribution and Honorable Medal, to honor related agencies, organizations, corporations and individuals who have greatly contributed to the Wen Chuan earthquake relief efforts. Pfizer China is among the 62 organizations that receive the Special Contribution Award. Pfizer is the only awarded multinational corporations in the healthcare & pharmaceutical industry.
Immediately following the 5.12 Wen Chuan earthquake, Pfizer announced it would provide RMB 10 million in medicines and financial assistance. Meanwhile, Pfizer China encouraged its colleagues to volunteer in earthquake relief efforts. By the end of July, Pfizer colleagues have devoted to Red Cross of Society of China (RCSC) 175 person-times with more than 1800 volunteer hours. Hitherto, total Pfizer earthquake relief contribution has exceeded RMB 12 million. Again, with its good practices, Pfizer China has demonstrated how a good corporate citizen shoulders its corporate social responsibility. |
